This image of an American bald eagle lifting off from its mountaintop perch is similar to one he created in 1907 for the American Institute of Architects gold medal. However, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar design has the bird’s head raised while the medal design has the bird’s head down as it clutches the sapling branch with its talons and beaks.
